Hotel Information A block of hotel rooms has been reserved at the following hotel for C20C Participants: Rydges on Swanston Reservations Manager: Mel Karacan Rates include overnight accommodation in an Executive Queen Room and free WiFi. Breakfast will be $15.00 if reserved at the time of the booking. C20C participants should contact Mel Karacan by phone or email to make the booking. Please mention the Block Code when making your reservation. C20C participants are welcome to consider making alternative private bookings at any hotel close to downtown Melbourne that has reasonable access to the public tram system, which is extensive, reliable, timely, and efficient. Note that the Melbourne Cup, a popular horse-racing event in the city, will be held on Tuesday November 5th, so the city will be busy with a carnival atmosphere and hotel rooms difficult to obtain. C20C participants should book their hotel rooms as soon as possible to ensure lodging.
Transportation to and from Melbourne Airport For travel to/from Melbourne Airport, SkyBus provides the most economical transport option. SkyBus runs express buses between Melbourne Airport and Melbourne's city centre, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The service takes approximately 20 minutes to get from the airport to the city centre. Buses run every 10 minutes from 6am to 11pm and every 15 to 30 minutes at other times.
The Workshop Venue The workshop sessions will be held at the following location: School of Earth Sciences, University of Melbourne The entrance to the McCoy building is one level above street level accessible by stairs or by a foot bridge across Swanston Street. The meeting will be held in the Loewe lecture theatre, on the entrance level, and nearby breakout rooms. AV facilities for multi-screen presentations and remote presentations via videoconference are available in the Loewe lecture theatre. There will not be a registration fee charged, as morning and afternoon tea costs will be covered by the main sponsor, the ARC Centre of Excellence for Climate System Science. Lunches will not be provided, but there are many cafes and restaurants nearby in Lygon St, 5 minutes walk away.
Local Map The Rydges On Swanston hotel is located on Swanston Street, opposite the gardens of Lincoln Square. The workshop venue (the McCoy Building) is easily accessed by the Melbourne tram network – simply catch any tram along Swanston Street that is heading towards Melbourne University. The closest tram stop to the Rydges on Swanston is adjacent to Lincoln Square (view local area map).
